ABSTRACT

SAPRIL ANAS HASIBUAN: Rate of Litter Leaf Decomposition of Avicennia
marina on an application in a variety of fungi Aspergillus sp Salinity Level. Under
Academy Suvervision by YUNASFI and BUDI UTOMO.
Mangroves play an important role in maintaining soil fertility in the
coastal area, one of the functions of mangrove forest products to maintain soil
fertility derived from the litter. Litter decomposition that have contributed to the
organic material which is a source of food for various species of fish and other
organisms in the mangrove ecosystem. The process of decomposition can be
affected by salinity, in addition to producing organic matter, litter also releases

nutrients needed by plants along the coastal area.
This study aims to determine the effect of salinity on leaf litter decomposition
rates of A. marina at different levels of salinity, nutrient content of determining
the availability of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) contained in the
leaf litter of A. marina which decompose at different levels of salinity and know
the effect of fungi Aspergillus sp on leaf litter decomposition rates of A. marina.
The results showed that leaf litter of A. marina at the level of salinity> 20-30 ppt
decomposed faster than the rate of salinity 20-30 ppt lebih cepat
terdekomposisi daripada tingkat salinitas 20-30 ppt
