RESEARCH PROCEDURE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The notes of observation were then crosschecked with the documents from the interview. The observation, in other words, is to discover whether the real action in the classroom confirms the action stated in the interview. All the participants‟ action was recorded in form of video. The researcher also conducted the document checks to answer the research problem. The documents needed to be checked are the lesson plans and other teaching administrative documents. The document is significant to discover whether the teachers‟ action confirms the planned activity in the lesson plan.

E. RESEARCH PROCEDURE

The research procedure was conducted in several steps. Every researcher will employ different arrangement of steps. However, basically, there are same techniques employed to help researchers to answer the lived experience research question. The first step was to formulate the interview questions. They served as the interview guidelines. They were significant for this research for the lived experience can be dug up by those questions. The next step was to conduct the interview to the research participant. This was the step where the main data was obtained. The data was then transcribed into narrative. Then, classroom observation and document checking were conducted. The next step was to categorize and code the data. It was then presented in form of description. After completed with description, the last step was to interpret the data. Figure 3 on the next page presents brief explanation of the steps in conducting this research. It will explain the research procedure and the result. Figure 4. Research Procedure The first step of discovering the answer of the research problem is formulating questions as guidelines for the interview. The development of the interview question was based on the narrative concept under a certain category. The questions were categorized based on understanding, belief, feeling, intention and action. After finishing with the guidelines, the researcher then conducted the interview. The interview was documented using audio equipment and supported by notes. The audio file was then transcribed into text. The coding and the analysis were the next steps. The coding was conducted to the data. It is the part of the data analysis in which the researcher identified, named, categorized, and described the phenomenon found during the interviews and observations. Coding is aimed at finding out the core of the findings in the interviews and observations in order to determine which data is significant to the solution of the research problem. The first procedure of coding was to transcribe the data from audio file of the interview and video of classroom observations into text. The text was then divided using table for each line. The researcher assigned codes to significant expressions under the theme of the research. The same way applied to the documents. They were coded and put under the different themes according to the findings. In this step, the researcher condensed the data. Only the significant expressions of the participants were selected. The unrelated chunks were removed from the data. This technique is called bracketing; inside the brackets was the significant data only. After coding, the data, which had been in form of a narrative, was presented. The data presentation can be in form of table, diagram, chart, or mind map. The presentation is significant to discover the themes of the findings and what went below the themes. Afterward, the researcher described the data which had been presented. The data descriptions were divided into two categories. First, it is the description of the personal lived experience. The basis of this description is the each participant personal account. Second, it is the description of the shared lived experience. The basis of this description was the participants‟ shared account of the phenomenon. Here, the researcher attempted to find the similarities of the participants‟ lived experience. The interpretation was the next step of answering the research question. This is the most crucial step in answering the research problem. The main task of the researcher in this research was to interpret the data based on the collected data. The analysis of this research will be elaborated in detail in chapter IV. After the researcher analyzed the data, the conclusion can be drawn. The main consideration in drawing conclusion is the interpretation of the collected data. The conclusion is the answer to the research question. It will be presented and elaborated in chapter V.
