3. Communication Strategy
It was interesting when the researcher found that the samples of research made such errors representing the misleading focus of communication. The errors,
which are caused by misleading focus of communication, are considered the errors caused by overgeneralization of communication strategy. Communication
strategy here means the focus of language is on the meaning instead of the construction. Referring to this source of errors, the researcher found that there
were quite many errors which were caused by communication strategy. There are two examples representing the errors caused by communication
strategy, such as “How much you bought this bicycle?” and “Why you are
crying?” The first interrogative word question, “How much you bought this bicycle?” shows that this interrogative word focuses on the meaning rather than
the construction and grammar or tense. The audience will still understand what is meant by the questioner even though the question is false in the case of the
construction. The second interrogative word question, “Why you are crying?” also
represents the same focus. This question is still understandable even though the construction is false. The construction of that interrogative word question is more
appropriate for relative clause of reason like what is illustrated afterwards: “I do not know why you are crying.”

4. Misleading Source of Language Learning
Another source of errors in constructing interrogative word questions based on the theory is misleading source of the language learning. It covers
unclear teacher’s explanation, inappropriate or very few examples, and insufficient sources of materials. Unfortunately, since the researcher did not
conduct any interview, therefore there were no follow up data to prove that this source of errors affected the error makings in this research. Besides, the researcher
did not intend to analyze the content of the module and the workbook and also the teaching learning process. Thus, this source of errors was determined having lack
influence to the errors made by students of PMat 2010.
