5. REPE
The learners said in the interviews that they needed
to repeat the materials again, at Domby Kid’s Hope 2,
school, also at home. Repetition is an important
principle of children learning.
c. Summary of the classroom observations
To support the findings of the interviews, the researcher conducted three observations in the English class in the fifth grade at Domby Kid’s Hope 2. The
researcher paid more attention to the learners’ performances during the lesson to cross-check the data from the interviews.
The next tables present the data of the observations.

They sang the song together. The tutor repeated asking the meaning of each vocabulary in the song and the learners
actively answered the tutor questions. The tutor ended the lesson and asked a student to lead the prayer.

The tutor started to ask the meaning of some vocabularies to the learners. All of the learners could answers the answers about family, although Diki was a little bit
over in answering the questions. They were discussing the date of important days, the learners could answer the
questions but in Indonesian. They were discussing part of bodies, Devi, Vika, Danny, and Hugo actively
participated. Break
The tutor reviewed the materials, asking the learners one by one. The tutor closed he lesson, Vika led the prayer.

Tutor opened the learner’ book and tried to find the materials that they wanted to be discussed.
The tutor gave vocabulary test about family, and giving some clues if the learners could not answer the questions.
When there were some difficult questions, the tutor gave some clues and Leon often succeeded to answer that questions.
The tutor tried to look for the other materials from the other books. The tutor asked questions about question words but the learners could not answer the
questions. They just mentioned the vocabularies without wrote down that difficult vocabularies.
Hastin kept looking the dictionary and the others tried to still pay attention. Diah protested the tutor not to give difficult questions.
The learners started to pay less attention. The tutor started to write on the whiteboard since the learners did not know the spelling
of the vocabularies. The tutor wrote some vocabularies and asked the students one by one to spell those
vocabularies. Almost all of the learners succeed, but Gifan got some troubles in spelling. The tutor asked Leon to help Gifan.
Break The tutor reviewed the materials but the learners forgot some of the materials given in
the previous section. The tutor asked the learners one by one, Leon, Hastin, and Pipit successfully answered
the questions. Gifan and Diah faced some difficulties. The tutor kept asking some vocabularies but the students said they were tired and they
did not want to answer the questions. The tutor ended the class, a student led the prayer.
