You can measure the distance between two map items.
to measure distance between two points:
1. Press MEnu to open the Map Page Options
Menu.
2. Highlight Measure distance, and press EntEr
. An on-screen arrow appears on the
map display at your current location with rEF
below it. 3. Move the arrow to the reference point the
starting point you want to measure from,
and press EntEr. A push pin icon marks the
starting point on the map. 4. Move the arrow to the point you want to
measure to. The distance between the two points is shown in the upper-right corner of the
Map Page.
5. Press QuIt to cancel.

You can remove unwanted items from the Map Page display declutter the display such as map item titles
and icons. This is useful when the map is zoomed to a scale that is partially obscured by titles and icons that
remain the same size regardless of the map scale.
to turn declutter on or off:
1. Press MEnu to open the Map Page Options
menu.
2. Highlight turn declutter on, and press EntEr
.
or To turn Declutter off, press MEnu, select turn
declutter off , and press EntEr.
Restoring Defaults
Use the Restore Defaults option to return the map settings to factory settings.

When navigating, the Compass Page provides navigation data and directions. It uses a graphic
compass ring, a bearing or course pointer and digital data ields to show information such as current speed,
distance to the next point on the route, and estimated arrival time.

Using the Electronic Compass
When you turn the electronic compass off, it stays off until you turn it on again. However, sometimes
when you turn the electronic compass on, the GPSMAP 60CSx overrides the compass and uses the
GPS receiver to track your heading. In fact, when you are moving at a steady rate, the GPS receiver
operates the compass. When stationary, the electronic compass provides you with accurate headings. You
can customize the criteria for switching between the electronic compass and the GPS as explained in the
Heading Setup section on
page 75 .
