ABSTRACT
The thesis entitled „Grammatical Errors in the Translation of MAJALAH
MAHLIGAI TRADISI, PERNIKAHAN & GAYA HIDUP into English‟ is a study on
translation. This study appeared because of the importance of translation role in the
translation product from Indonesian into English. It was conducted to answer the
curiosity of the writer about what kinds of grammatical errors made by the translator
in the translation product from Indonesian into English. This magazine was chosen
because of many grammatical errors occurrences found in the translation product
from Indonesian into English. In order to identify and classify the kinds of
grammatical errors made by the translator, the writer chose Richard‟s theory
(1974:15). The method of the analysis was descriptive qualitative. The results of
grammatical error are errors in the production of verb groups in 33 (61.11%) and
miscellaneous errors in 21 (38.89%) occurrences. The most dominant grammatical
error is errors in the production of verb groups in 33 (61.11%) occurrences.
Grammatical errors happened because the subject was going out from the rule of a
grammar in a context. The translator did not focus on cross linguistic influence.
Errors in translation influence the quality of the final product.

Skripsi yang berjudul „Grammatical Errors in The Translation of of
MAJALAH MAHLIGAI TRADISI, PERNIKAHAN & GAYA HIDUP into English ‟
adalah sebuah kajian terjemahan tentang Kesalahan Tata Bahasa dalam Terjemahan
Majalah Mahligai Tradisi, Pernikahan & Gaya Hidup dalam Bahasa Inggris. Studi ini
muncul karena pentingnya peran terjemahan dalam menerjemahkan hasil terjemahan
dari Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris. Skripsi ini dibuat untuk menjawab
rasa penasaran penulis tentang kesalahan-kesalahan tata bahasa yang cenderung
dibuat oleh penerjemah dalam hasil terjemahan dari Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam
Bahasa Inggris. Majalah ini dipilih karena terdapat banyak kesalahan tata bahasa
dalam hasil terjemahan dari Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris. Dalam
penelitian ini, untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan jenis – jenis kesalahan
tata bahasa yang dibuat oleh penerjemah, penulis memilih teori yang dikembangkan
oleh Richard (1974:15). Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah
deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian tata bahasa ini menunjukkan bahwa
terdapat errors in the production of verb groups sebanyak 33 (61.11%) dan
miscellaneous errors sebanyak 21 (38.89%) temuan. Kesalahan yang sering dibuat
oleh penerjemah adalah errors in the production of verb groups sebanyak 33
(61.11%) temuan. Kesalahan tata bahasa terjadi karena didalam konteks subjek tidak
sesuai dengan peraturan tata bahasa. Penerjemah tidak fokus terhadap pengaruh
lintas bahasa. Kesalahan–kesalahan yang terdapat dalam terjemahan mempengaruhi
kualitas dari hasil akhir.
