November 2017This research analyzes the translation techniques and translation qualities of Negative politeness in How to Train Your dragon films. The purposes of the research are (1) To find out the negative politeness in How to Train Your Dragon (2) To find out the techniques are used by translator to translate negative politeness and (3) To find out the quality of translation in terms of accuracy and acceptability of negative politeness in the Film
“How To Train Your Dragon.
The research applies a Descriptive-qualitative method and applies a Purposive sampling technique to collect the data. This research is done by conducting a content analysis on the source of data and distributing the questionnaires. In the content analysis of How to Train Your dragon films 136 data are collected. The distributions of questionnaires consist of closed and open-ended questions. Those are used to collect the data from rater related to translation quality.
The result of the data analysis explains: (1) there are 9 of 10 of negative politeness are found in
How to Train Your Dragon’s subtitle. Namely: Be
Conventionally Indirect; Question/Hedge; Be Pessimistic; Minimize The Imposition; Give Deference; Apologize; Impersonalize Speaker (S) and Hearer (H); Nominalize; and Go on record as incurring a debt, or as not indebting Hearer. (2) The translator applied 11 translation techniques. They are Established Equivalent, Variation, Modulation, Amplification, Borrowing, Reduction, Transposition, Generalization, Particularization, Discursive Creation, and Literal Translation. (3) The result of Translation Quality Assessments are: 127 data are accurate, 5 data are less accurate, and 4 data are inaccurate. Meanwhile, 130 data are Acceptable and 6 data are less acceptable.
In conclusion, the translation techniques applied by translator are affects the translation quality. In translating negative politeness, the translator needs to consider the context and situation in Cultural Background and language used in TL.

Ilmu Budaya. Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta: November 2017Penelitian ini menganalisis teknik penejermahan dan kualitas terjemahan kesantunan negative dalam film How to Train Your dragon. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk mengetahui kesantunan negative yang terdapat dalam film How to Train Your dragon (2) untuk mengetahui teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan oleh penerjemah untuk menerjemahkan kesantunan negative dan (3) menilai kualitas terjemahan kesantunan negative dalam film How to Train Your dragon dalam hal keakuratan dan keberterimaan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-kualitatif dan menggunakan teknik Purposive sampling untuk mengumpulkan data. Dalam pengumpulan data, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis isi data dan kuesioner. 136 data telah terkumpul dari proses menganalisis isi data. Kuesioner dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pertanyaan terbuka dan tertutup. Kuesioner digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari rater mengenai kualitas terjemahan.
Hasil dari analisis data adalah: (1) terdapat 9 dari 10 kesantunan negative dalam in How to Train Your Dragon’s. Namely: Be Conventionally Indirect;

Apologize; Impersonalize Speaker (S) and Hearer (H); Nominalize; and Go on
record as incurring a debt, or as not indebting Hearer. (2) penerjemah
menggunakan 11 teknik penerjemahan yang berbeda, yaitu: Established
Equivalent, Variation, Modulation, Amplification, Borrowing, Reduction,
Transposition, Generalization, Particularization, Discursive Creation, and Literal
(2) hasil dari kualitas terjemahan menjelaskan 127 data dinyatakan Translation. akurat, 5 data dinyatakan kurang akurat,dan 4 data tidak akurat. Di sisi lain, 130 data dinyatakan berterima dan 6 data dinyatakan kurang berterima.
Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah: teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan oleh penerjemah mempengaruhi kualitas dari terjemahan tersebut. Dalam menerjemahkan kesantunan negatif, penerjemah harus mempertimbangkan konteks dan situasi dalam latar belakang budaya dan penggunaan Bahasa di Bahasa sasaran.
