ABSTRAK

Plak berperan terhadap terjadinya dua penyakit yaitu karies dan penyakit
periodontal. Pengukuran indeks plak dinilai penting karena dapat memantau baik
atau buruknya kebersihan gigi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui
nilai indeks plak siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama usia 12-13 tahun.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik
survei terhadap 138 siswa di SMPN 2 Pangalengan. Penilaian indeks plak ini
menggunakan indeks plak berdasarkan Green dan Vermillion.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata indeks plak siswa Sekolah
Menengah Pertama usia 12-13 tahun di SMPN 2 Pangalengan adalah 1,77.
Simpulan penelitian ini bahwa rata-rata indeks plak siswa Sekolah
Menengah Pertama usia 12-13 tahun termasuk kategori sedang. Siswa perlu
diberikan penyuluhan mengenai tindakan pengendalian plak sebagai usaha
pencegahan primer.

ABSTRACT

Plaque contributes to the occurrence of two diseases such as caries and
periodontal disease. The measurement of plaque index is important because it can
monitors the oral hygiene. The aim of this research was to get value plaque index
in 12-13 years old students of Junior High School.
This type of research is descriptive with survey method. A total of 138
students of SMPN 2 Pangalengan participated in this research. This research
used by Green and Vermillion plaque index.
The result of this study showed that the average plaque index in 12-13
years old students of Junior High School was 1,77.
The Conclusion of this research is that the students in 12-13 years old at
SMPN 2 Pangalengan have plaque index in ‘’fair level category”. Students
should be given plaque control counseling as a primary preventive effort.
