ABSTRACT:
Performance contributed to the achievement of the each organization’s goals. One of
factors that affects the performance is locus of control. There are contradictions where
several studies have shown locus of control correlated with performance, but some researches
evidence shows that there’s no such result. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to
reexamine whether there is a positive and significant relationship between internal locus of
control with the performance of distribution sales with a quantitative-correlation approach.
The sample used in this study were 34 sales of distributor company. The measured locus of
control using I-E scale by Rotter (1966) and the performance using Salesperson Performance
scale by Piercy et al, (2004). The results obtained in the form of the correlation coefficient (r)
0.372 with 0.015 (p> 0.05), which prove that there is a positive and significant relationship
between internal locus of control and performance among sales persons in distributor
company.

Kinerja berkontribusi pada pencapaian tujuan setiap organisasi. Salah satu faktor yang
mempengaruhi kinerja adalah locus of control. Terdapat kontradiksi dimana beberapa
penelitian menunjukkan locus of control berkorelasi dengan kinerja, sebaliknya beberapa
bukti penelitian tidak menunjukkan hasil yang demikian. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini
adalah untuk menguji kembali apakah terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara
internal locus of control dengan kinerja sales distribusi dengan pendekatan kuantitatif –
korelatif. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 34 orang sales. Skala yang
digunakan untuk mengukur locus of control adalah Skala I-E yang dibuat oleh Rotter (1966) dan
skala yang digunakan untuk mengukur kinerja adalah Skala Salesperson Performance yang
dibuat oleh Piercy et al, (2004). Hasil yang didapatkan berupa koefisien korelasi (r) 0,372
