  When you begin t o ex plore Word 2007 you will not ice a new look t o t he m enu bar. You should rem em ber t hree feat ures as you work wit hin Word 2007: ƒ t he Microsoft Office But ton ƒ t he Quick Access Toolbar ƒ t he Ribbon

  These t hree feat ures cont ain m any of t he funct ions t hat were in t he m enu of previous versions of Word. The funct ions of t hese t hree feat ures will be out lined below.

  Th e M icr osoft Office Bu t t on

  The Microsoft Office but t on perform s m any of t he funct ions t hat were locat ed in t he File m enu of older versions of Word. This but t on allow s you t o creat e a new docum ent , open an exist ing docum ent , save or save as, print , send ( t hrough em ail or fax) , publish or close.

  Th e Ribbon

  The Ribbon is t he panel at t he t op port ion of t he docum ent . I t has seven t abs: Hom e, I nsert , Page Layout , References, Mailings, Review , and View t hat cont ain m any new and exist ing feat ures of Word. Each t ab is divided int o groups. The gr oups are logical collect ions of feat ures designed t o perform funct ions t hat you will ut ilize in developing or edit ing your Word docum ent . Com m only used feat ures are displayed on t he Ribbon, t o view addit ional feat ures wit hin each group, click on t he arrow at t he bot t om right of each group.

You will not ice t hat on t he Hom e Tab of t he Ribbon, t hat you have several areas t hat will cont rol t he st yle of your docum ent : Font , Paragraph, and St yles.

  ƒ Rem em ber t hat you can preview how t he new font will look by highlight ing t he t ext , and hovering over t he new font t ypeface.
