ABSTRACT
The title of this thesis is A Semantic Analysis of Phrasal Verbs Found in
Fall Out Boy’s Selected Songs which discusses about phrasal verbs found in this
songs. There are 2 problems discussed in this thesis, such as type of phrasal verbs
and phrasal verbs mean found in phrasal verbs in this songs. In analyzing the types of
phrasal verbs, the theories used are Biber, Susan Conrad, Geoffray Leech (2002),
which state that there are 2 types of Phrasal verbs; transitive and intransitive phrasal
verbs. The intransitive phrasal verb has only one pattern (V+ADV), and the transitive
phrasal verb has 4 patterns, such as (V+ADV+N),(V+N+ADV),(V+PRON+ADV),
and (V+REFL+ADV). In analyzing the phrasal verbs mean, the theory used is from
Geoffray Leech (2002).
Based on the analysis, it is found that there are 2 types of phrasal verbs in this
songs; transitive and intransitive phrasal verbs. The intransitive phrasal verb has only
one pattern (V+ADV), and the transitive phrasal verb has 4 pattern, such as
(V+ADV+N),(V+N+ADV),(V+PRON+ADV), and (V+REFL+ADV). All particles
(up, out, down, off, by, back, away, on, apart, in, around) used in phrasal verbs
applied in those two types. It is also found 2 types meaning of phrasal verbs found in
these songs; conceptual meaning and connotative meaning.

Out Boy’s Selected, membahastentangphrasal verbs yang ditemukandalamlagu.
Terdapat 3 hal yang dibahasantara lain; jenisphrasal verbsdanartiphrasal verbs yang
ditemukan di phrasal verbsdalamlagu. Dalammenganalisisjenis Phrasal Verbs
digunakanteoriBiber, Susan Conrad, Geoffray Leech (2002), yang menyatakanbahwa
phrasal verbs diklasifikasikandalam 2 kategoriyaitutransitifdaninntransitifphrasal
verb. Intransitifphrasal verbhanyamemilikisatupola (V+ADV), dantransitifphrasal
verbmemiliki 4 pola, yaitu (V+ADV+N),(V+N+ADV),(V+PRON+ADV), dan
