Perbanyakan Phragmatoecia castaneae (Lepidoptera: Cossidae) pada pakan buatan

Tobing and Suzanna Fitriyani Sitepu. P. castaneae is an important stem borer
pest has destroyed sugarcane in North Sumatera and is also a host of some
parasitoids. This research was to study the biology of P. castaneae on artificial
diets and conducted at Sei. Semayang Centre for Research and Development of
Sugarcane PTPN II Medan. This research used non factorial Randomized
Complete Design using artificial diets of sugarcane shoot powder variety PS 862
8,6 g, mixture of sugarcane stem and shoot powder variety VMC 76-16 4,3:4,3 g
and mixture of sugarcane stem and shoot powder variety PS 862 4,3:4,3 g with 10
replications.
The results showed that the eggs period was 10-12 days, larval period was
> 125 days with 10 instars. 1st instar was 6-10 (± 6,67) days, 2nd instar was 8-14
(± 9,83) days, 3rd instar was 9-18 (± 12,80) days, 4th instar was 10-17 (± 12,40)
days, 5th instar was 10-16 (± 12,60) days, 6th instar was 10-18 (± 11,87) days, 7th
instar was 12-20 (± 12,47) days, 8th instar was 13-18 (± 12,47) days, 9th instar
was 12-18 (±13,4) days, 10th instar was not known. The highest mortality
percentage was found on sugarcane shoot powder variety PS 862 8,6g (65%) and
the lowest (35%) on mixture of sugarcane stem and shoot powder variety PS 862
4,3:4,3g and also be the best treatment, this showed by the duration of larval
stage was significantly faster, and the mortality was lower and the long of larval
was longer than the other treatments from 1st instar untill 10th instar.

Cossidae) pada Pakan Buatan”, dibawah bumbingan Maryani Cyccu Tobing dan
Suzanna Fitriyani Sitepu. P. castaneae merupakan hama penting pada tanaman
tebu dengan cara menggerek batang dan juga sebagai inang dari berbagai jenis
parasitoid serta banyak merusak tanaman tebu di Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk perbanyakan dan mengetahui biologi P. castaneae pada beberapa
jenis pakan buatan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Balai Riset dan Pengembangan
Tanaman Tebu PTPN II Sei. Semayang Medan. Metode yang digunakan adalah
Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non Faktorial terdiri dari serbuk pucuk tebu
varietas PS 862 8,6g, campuran serbuk batang dan pucuk tebu varietas VMC 7616 4,3: 4,3g) dan campuran serbuk batang dan pucuk tebu varietas PS 862 4,3 :
4,3g masing-masing dengan 10 ulangan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lamanya fase telur 10-12 hari, fase
larva > 125 hari terdiri atas 10 instar, instar 1 6-10 (± 6,67) hari, instar 2 8-14
(± 9,83) hari, instar 3 9-18 (± 12,80) hari, instar 4 10-17 hari (± 12,40) hari, instar
5 10-16 (± 12,60) hari, instar 6 10-18 (± 11,87) hari, instar 7 12-20 (±12,47) hari,
instar 8 13-18 (± 12,47) hari, instar 9 12-18 (± 13,4) hari, instar 10 tidak
diketahui. Persentase mortalitas tertinggi (65%) terdapat pada serbuk pucuk tebu
varietas PS 862 8,6 g dan terendah (35%) terdapat pada Campuran serbuk batang
dan pucuk tebu varietas PS 862 4,3 : 4,3 g dan merupakan pakan terbaik,
ditunjukkan dari lamanya fase larva tiap instarnya yang relatif singkat dan
mortalitas larva yang lebih rendah serta panjang larva yang lebih panjang dari
perlakuan lainnya mulai dari instar 1 sampai 10.
