Bicky Perdana Putra, 210110060353, 2013. Penelitian ini berjudul Ideologi Islam
dalam Film Dokumenter “Prison and Paradise”, dengan subjudul Analisis Wacana
Kritis Model Norman Fairclough Mengenai Ideologi Islam dalam Film “ Prison and
Paradise”. Pembimbing utama Dr. Herlina Agustin, MT dan Pembimbing

Pendamping Dandi Supriadi, S.Sos. MA (SUT). Jurusan Jurnalistik, Fakultas Ilmu
Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor.
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pemahaman mengenai Islam dan
terorisme yang terdapat dalam film dokumenter Prison and Paradise, karya Daniel
Rudi Haryanto. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis wacana kritis model Norman
Fairclough dalam menganalisis film dalam dimensi teks, wacana, dan sosiokultural.
Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan analisis film, wawancara mendalam, dan studi
pustaka. Objek penelitian adalah film dokumenter Prison and Paradise.
Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan terdapat pemahaman yang berseberangan
dengan para pelaku peledakan Bom Bali I dalam film Prison and Paradise.
Pemahaman tersebut dikonstruksi sedemikian rupa dengan berbagai cara, dalam pra
produksi, produksi, dan pasca produksi. Ideologi tersebut berangkat dari hal yang
sangat subjektif dan personal bagi sutradara. Sehingga faktor kognitif pembuat film
dinilai sangat berpengaruh. Prison and Paradise pun lahir di lingkungan yang kurang

akomodatif bagi film-film yang ‘berbeda’. Faktor politik, hukum, dan situasi di
Indonesia menekan film ini hingga ke tingkat pelarangan tayang.
Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa ideologi (pemahaman Islam dan terorisme)
pembuat film dalam film Prison and Paradise hadir dalam porsi yang signifikan. Hal
tersebut umumnya tidak disadari oleh para penonton awam, dan diterima sebagai
kebenaran. Walau film tersebut pun tumbuh dalam lingkungan yang kurang
mendukung. Peneliti menyarankan agar pemanfaatan film sebagai media penanaman
ideologi lebih digalakkan. Terutama untuk melawan ideologi-ideologi yang merusak

generasi penerus. Peneliti juga menyarankan penerapan kategorisasi film ketimbang
penyensoran yang selama ini dilakukan pemerintah Indonesia.

This research was aimed to find out the Islam and terrorism concept that exist
in documentary movie “Prison and Paradise”, directed by Daniel Rudi Haryanto.
This research used critical discourse analysis from Norman Fairclough model to
analyze the movie in textual, discourse, and sociocultural dimension. The data for
this research was collected by analyzing the movie, in depth reporting, and library
research. The object of this research was the documentary movie “Prison and
Paradise”.
The result of this research showed the existence of the concept that opposite
with the perpetrator of the first Bali bombing, in “Prison and Paradise”. The concept
were constructed in certain ways, from pra production, production, and post
production stage. The concept appear from the very subjective and personal
statement of the director. Therefore cognitive factor of the filmmaker was influence
the movie making. “Prison and Paradise ” was born in a very hard atmosphere for a

‘different’ movie to be exist. Political issue, regulation, and circumstance in

Indonesia was pressed the movie to the very low existence, forbidden to show.
Researcher reach a conclusion that the constructed ideology (of Islam and
terrorism concept) in “Prison and Paradise” present in a significant amount. The
constructed ideology, in a general way, was not realize by the audience, and was
taken for granted. Although the movie born in a very hard circumstance. Researcher

suggested that the use of movie to plant ideology to be generated in Indonesia.
Researcher also suggested the use of movie categorization than censorship that
usually did by the government to the movies in Indonesia.
