ABSTRAK
Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) Pada Materi Koloid Untuk
Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis dan Keterampilan Proses Sains Siswa. Yumike

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan
proses sains siswa melalui pembelajaran POE pada materi koloid. Keterampilan berpikir
kritis ditandai dengan tiga kemampuan yaitu: menganalisis argumen, membuat kesimpulan
dan membuat definisi. Sementara itu, keterampilan proses sains ditandai dengan empat
kemampuan yaitu: merencanakan percobaan, mengelompokkan, menafsirkan dan
menerapkan konsep. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre eksperimental dengan desain
One-Group Pretest-Postet. Implementasi model pembelajaran POE dilangsungkan dengan
subyek sebanyak 34 siswa kelas XI IPA di sebuah SMA Swasta di Kota Bandung. Data
dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan proses sains,
angket dan wawancara. Untuk mengetahui keberhasilan implementasi model pembelajaran
POE dihitung dengan nilai rata-rata N-Gain (%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ratarata N-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah implementasi model pembelajaran POE
adalah (1) menganalisis argumen (73,1%), (2) membuat kesimpulan (67,4%), dan (3)
membuat definisi (47,1%). Sementara itu, rata-rata keterampilan proses sains siswa diperoleh
rata-rata N-Gain setelah implementasi model pembelajaran POE yaitu (1) merencanakan
percobaan (76,5%), (2) mengelompokkan (60,9%), (3) menafsirkan (64,4%), dan (4)
menerapkan konsep (56,8%).

This research intended to improve students’ critical thinking and science process skills
through the application of POE Instruction model on the subject matter of Colloid. Students’
critical thinking skills were characterized through three capabilities: analyzing arguments,
making conclusion, and making definition. Meanwhile, students’ science process skills were
characterized through four capabilities: planning an experiment, classifying, interpreting, and
applying concept. Pre-experiment method with one-group pretest-posttest design was used in
this research. Thirty four eleventh-grade students majoring in natural science in a private
senior high school in Bandung were involved as the subject of this research. Data were
collected through written test of critical thinking and science process skills, inquiry sheet, and
questionnaire.The enhancement in students’ critical thinking and science process skills
through the application of POE Instruction model were presented in everage N-Gain
percentage. The result for students’ ciritical thinking skills were: (1) analyzing argumen
(73,1%), (2) making conclusion (67,4%), and (3) making definition (47,1%). Meanwhile, the
result for students’ science process skills were: planning experiment (76,5%), (2) classifying
(60,9), interpreting (64,4%), and applying concept (56,8%).
