The title of the research is ―Stylistic Study on texts of shadow play with leather puppets Surakarta
Style‖. The location of the research is Surakarta City and its surooundings. Many people said that text of
shadow play with leather puppets Surakarta style is very beautiful and full of supreme lesson.
Nevertheles, they cann‘t expalain why so they are. The aim of the research is to identify and to find out
the linguistic elements that were used by the writer of the text to acheiv aesthetic effects. Those
linguistic elements are specch soun wether segmental and suprasegmental, the value of speech sound,
assonances and alliterations, the use of archaic words, the characteristic of word-formation (by using
(h)ang- prefiks, by using –in- and –um- infixes, by using dwipurwa pattern (reduplicated first syllable), the
characteristic of phrase structure, and syntactic characteristics. According to observation can be known
that all of the samples show similarity of the type, so for sampling the researcher used random sampling.
Any parts of the texts should be analysed according their linguistic phenomena. The result of the
analyses show that there is a certain parts of the texts is the most attracrive one, that is called janturan
pathet 6. The janturan pathet 6 is the narration of the Dhalang (narrator and puppeteer of traditional
shadow play) to describe the majesty and nobleness of certain King in a certain Kindom. The use of
linguistic elements to achaive aesthetic effects in this text are very comprehensive and complicated.
