ABSTRACT
Currently organic farming becomes a new growing business activities in the Indonesian agriculture. Along with the public awareness of healthy eating and the balance of the ecosystem, appears
slogan "Back to Nature" supported agricultural insurance requirement, food safety attributes,
nutritional attributes, and eco-labeling attribute.
This study aims to determine the productivity of rice cultivated in organic and inorganic, as well
as to know the differences of current amount of capital, gross revenue, net income, and production
include seed, fertilizer, pesticides, and labor of organic and inorganic farming. This research has
been conducted in the Sukorejo Village and Musuk Village, Sambirejo Sub district, Sragen Regency starting from July 11, 2011 until August 11, 2011.
This is a descriptive study with primary and secondary data for data collection method. The
purposive sampling technique is used to determine research area and simple random sampling

technique is used to determine farmers' sampling. Analysis tools that being used is the independent
t-test. From 60 samples, the research population was divided into two pairs, namely organic
farming and inorganic farming population.
The finding of this study shows as follows: (1) average of production, gross revenues, net income,
and seed costs of organic farming higher than inorganic farming, (2) cost of organic farming
pesticide lower than inorganic farming, and (3) current capital, cost of fertilizer, and labor costs
of organic farming is not significantly different from inorganic farming.
