In relat ion t o t he eart hquake t hat hit West Sumat ra on Wednesday, 30 Sept ember
2009, at 17:16 local t ime, measuring 7.6 on t he Richt er Scale, we would like t o inform
you t hat one of our subsidiaries locat ed in Indarung, West Sumat ra, namely PT Semen
Padang, is experiencing operat ional dif f icult ies due t o t he eart hquake.
The Company has assigned a Disast er Response Team t o ident if y and invent ory t he
impact s of t he eart hquake on t he risk of damage t o product ion equipment and ot her
support ing facilit ies.
At t his report was made, product ion act ivit ies of PT Semen Padang have been st opped
t emporarily and are experiencing some t roubles, among ot hers due t o t he
unavailabilit y of power supply f rom t he St at e Elect ricit y Company, PT Perusahaan
List rik Negara (PT PLN), which is t he main supplier of elect ricit y f or PT Semen Padang.
Alt hough t he power supply f rom PT PLN has now already been reconnect ed,
comprehensive rechecking and rebalancing is being conduct ed t o assure t he safet y of
t he product ion bef ore rest art ing operat ions.
It is scheduled t he init ial st art -up for all product ion equipment s will be complet ed by
Wednesday, Oct ober 7, 2009.
Please not e t hat , according t o dat a as per 2 Oct ober 2009, cement invent ory of Semen
Gresik Group is as follows:
1. Semen Gresik : 250, 000 t on
2. Semen Padang : 240, 000 t on
3. Semen Tonasa : 140, 000 t on
Considering t he daily released volume of Semen Gresik Group reaching 46,000 t ons of
cement on average, t he af orement ioned cement invent ory as per 2 Oct ober 2009 is
suf f icient f or assuring t he Company’ s supply of cement f or t he next 13. 7 days.
The Company, comprising Semen Gresik – Semen Padang – Semen Tonasa, will make all
and any ef f ort f or assuring t he supplies, especiall y t he supply of cement in Sumat ra for
post -disast er purposes.
We also need t o inf orm you t hat all asset s of PT Semen Padang have been covered by
” all risk” insurance, including coverage against disast ers (eart hquake).
