Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: 1) efektivitas model
pembelajaran (PBL, PjBL, dan ekspositori) terhadap peningkatan HOTS
keseluruhan; 2) efektivitas model pembelajaran (PBL, PjBL, dan ekspositori)
terhadap peningkatan HOTS spesifik (menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mencipta);
serta 3) efektivitas model pembelajaran (PBL, PjBL, dan ekspositori) terhadap
peningkatan HOTS pola konvergen dan divergen.
Penelitian ini merupakan quasi eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest
control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah semua peserta didik kelas X
SMA Negeri 1 Jetis, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Data diperoleh dengan tes untuk
mengukur hasil belajar keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi peserta didik, dan
dianalisis menggunakan Analysis Covariance (ANCOVA) dengan taraf
signifikansi sebesar 0,05.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) model pembelajaran (PBL, PjBL,
dan ekspositori) efektif terhadap peningkatan HOTS keseluruhan dengan nilai
posttest tertinggi pada kelas PjBL, PBL, dan terendah ekspositori; 2) model
pembelajaran (PBL, PjBL, dan ekspositori) efektif terhadap peningkatan HOTS
spesifik (mencipta) dengan nilai posttest tertinggi pada kelas PjBL, ekspositori
dan terendah PBL; serta 3) model pembelajaran (PBL, PjBL, dan ekspositori)
efektif terhadap peningkatan HOTS pola divergen dengan nilai posttest tertinggi
pada kelas PBL, ekspositori, dan terendah PjBL. Secara keseluruhan dapat
dinyatakan bahwa penggunaan model PBL dan PjBL dapat meningkatkan HOTS
pola divergen pada konsep pencemaran lingkungan.

The aims of this study were to investigate: 1) the effectiveness of learning
model (PBL, PjBL, and expository) to improve overall HOTS;
2) the effectiveness of learning model (PBL, PjBL, and expository) to improve
specific HOTS (analyze, evaluate, and create); and 3) the effectiveness of learning
model (PBL, PjBL, and expository) to improve HOTS convergent and divergent
patterns.
This study was a quasi-experimental using the pretest-posttest control
group design. The research population are grade X students of SMA Negeri 1
Jetis, Bantul Yogyakarta. The data were collected through a test of higher order
thinking skills. The data were analyzed by using the Analysis of Covariance
(ANCOVA) with significance level 0.05.
The results of the study are: 1) model of learning (PBL, PjBL, and
expository) effective to improve the overall HOTS with the highest result of
posttest is PjBL, PBL, and the lowest is expository model;
2) model of learning (PBL, PjBL, and expository) effective to improve the
specific HOTS (create skills) with the highest result of posttest is PjBL,
expository, and the lowest is PBL; and 3) model of learning (PBL, PjBL, and
expository) effective to improve HOTS of divergent pattern with the highest result
of posttest is PBL, expository, and the lowest is PjBL. Therefore it can be
concluded that using PBL and PjBL model is effective to improve the higher
order thinking skills of divergent pattern in senior high school students on the
environmental pollution concept.
