SUMMARY

Effectiveness of Concentration and Application Frequency of Compost Tea
Made from Coffee’s Shell Waste and Coconut Water on The Successfull
Improvement of Cocoa Flowers to be Pods; Sandi Bagus Permana;
061510101145; 2010; 36 pages; Agronomy Department Faculty of Agriculture
Jember University.
The research about “effectiveness of concentration and application
frequency of compost tea made from coffee’s shell waste and coconut water on
the successfull improvement of cocoa flowers to be pods” was aimed to
determine: (1) the optimal concentration of coffee shell and coconut water
(compost tea) for improving the successfull of cocoa flowers to be pods; (2) the
optimal frequency of the compost tea having significant effects on the
successfullness of cocoa flowers to be pods; and (3) the interaction between
concentration and frequency of compost tea on the successfull for improvement of
cocoa flowers to be pods. This research had been conducted at the field area
belong to Archipelago Estate 12 Inc. (PT Perkebunan Nusantara XII/PERSERO)
at Stategis Enterprise Unit of Kendeng Lembu, District of Glenmore, Regency of
Banyuwangi, started from 9 November 2009 to 22 March 2010.
The treatements of this research consisting of two factors: (1) effectiveness
the frequency of compost tea application, F1: once for 12 days, F2: once for 8
days, F3: once for 4 days, (2) the concentration of fertilizer, K0: 0%, K1: 5%, K2:
10%, K3: 15% of 500 ml of compost tea solution per plant. The treatments was
arranged by factorial design and replicated three times, using a randomized
complete block design (RCBD) followed by Duncan’s Multiple Rank Test α 5% if
there was a significant effect of the treatment. Frequency of the application was
not effective for improving the successfull of cocoa flowers to be fruits, while
concentration effectively affected for increasing the successfull of cocoa flowers
to be pods, especially on the parameter of flowers to be juvenile pods.

Penelitian tentang efektivitas konsentrasi dan frekuensi pemberian teh
kompos limbah kulit kopi dan air kelapa dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan bunga
kakao menjadi buah bertujuan untuk mengetahui : (1) konsentrasi teh kompos
berbahan dasar kulit kopi dan air kelapa yang optimal untuk meningkatkan
keberhasilan bunga kakao menjadi buah, (2) frekuensi pemberian teh kompos
yang tepat terhadap keberhasilan bunga kakao menjadi buah, (3) adanya interaksi
antara konsentrasi dan frekuensi pemberian teh kompos terhadap tingkat
keberhasilan bunga kakao menjadi buah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun PT.
Perkebunan Nusantara XII (PERSERO) UUS. Kendeng Lembu, Kecamatan
Glenmore Kabupaten Banyuwangi, terhitung sejak awal November 2009 sampai
dengan Maret 2010.
Perlakuan dalam penalitian ini terdiri atas 2 faktor : (1) frekuensi
pemberian pupuk, F1 : 12 hari sekali, F2 : 8 hari sekali, F3 : 4 hari sekali ; (2)
konsentrasi pemberian pupuk, K0 : 0%, K1 : 5%, K2 : 10%, K3 : 15% dalam 500
ml air per pohon. Penelitian ini disusun secara faktorial yang diulang sebanyak 3
kali, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dilanjutkan dengan Uji
Duncan α 5% jika dalam perlakuan menunjukkan berbeda nyata. Faktor frekuensi
pemberian teh kompos tidak efektif dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan bunga
kakao menjadi buah, sedangkan faktor konsentrasi efektif dalam meningkatkan
keberhasilan bunga kakao menjadi buah, khususnya pada parameter bunga kakao
menjadi buah muda.
