purposes that are common in foreign policy making; security, autonomy, welfare, and status or prestige.

The wills and also the needs of a country make the state actors formulate some policies to meet their countrys interests. From the analysis
of the Turkish Foreign Policy above and by referring to some of the common purposes of Holsti, some points of national interest behind Turkish foreign policy
that can be taken are economic purpose, the stability of domestic politics, and the European status.
1. Economic Purpose
In term of economy, Turkey wants to become an important trading partner of EU either multilaterally or bilaterally with each of Member States due to the
importance of EUs market for Turkey. Today, The European Union has been the Turkeys main trade partner as 40 of Turkeys total trade is with the European
Union. In 2013, total trade and Turkish exports to the European Union increased. This underlines the importance of the European Union as a large and secure
market for Turkey.

On the contrary, in bilateral trade relations with EU member states, Turkey has not been able to sit in the Top 5 as their exporting and
importing partner, particularly with a large EU member states such as Germany, France, UK, and Netherland.

As well as Germany and France, the top ten of export and import destination of UK is still majored by EU countries, USA, and China.
Among the bilateral trading partner of strong economic countries of EU member states such as Germany, France, and the UK, the Turkey has not been one
of the top ten of their exporting and importing partners. The non-EU countries that could place the top ten of export and import destination of those three big EU
countries were the USA and also China which are well known as giant economic countries. This indicates that those countries has not prioritized Turkey in the
matter of trade despite the quality of Turkish goods is not inferior compared to

another members goods. If Turkey finally met an official status of EU member state, Turkey can definitely establish the more intense trade relations with EU
member states either bilaterally or multilaterally, and this will certainly be a great advantage for Turkey.
2. The Stability of Domestic Politics
