The trunk of the silk-cotton tree was as wide as bus. At its base, huddled figures feed leaves into the smoldering

fires, sending dense columns of smoke up through massive limbs. The smoke, intended to distract the bees,

baggy shirt and pants, and swatches of handmade fishing net, they balanced on twisted branches to reach nests
