B. Newsweek Magazine
Many kinds of media began to develop after the publication of the first newspaper in 1690 in Boston, Massachusetts. Many printed and electronic media
emerged and took part in the world of press and journalism. Magazine is also one the media which has a significant development after its establishment in the mid 18
th
Century. In the first time of its establishment, magazine industry grew very slowly, which can be seen from the few number of magazines that were published at that
time. The condition changed after 1825 when this industry came to the „golden age’. It was called so because there were 2.679 magazines which could be found during the
period. The development of magazine continued until the 20
th
Century. One of the accelerations of magazine industries was marked in 1923 when Time Magazine was
launched by Henry Luce for the first time.
Ten years after the launching of Time, one more American magazine, Newsweek magazine was launched in 1933 by a group of U.S. stockholders which
included Ward Cheney, of the Cheney silk family, John Hay Whitney, and Paul Mellon, son of Andrew W. Mellon. Newsweek is an American weekly
newsmagazine published in New York City. It is distributed throughout the United States and internationally. It is the second largest news weekly magazine in the U.S.,
having trailed Time in circulation and advertising revenue for most of its existence. Newsweek is published in four English language editions and 12 global editions
