adding occasional heterophony but without counterpoint to or chordal accompaniment of the melody.

B. Types of Music
1. Jazz
Jazz is a musical form which originated at the beginning of the 20th
century in African American communities in the Southern United States from a confluence of African and European music traditions.
This type of music is featured by strong and complex rhythms. The main musical instruments used for jazz music are cornet, trumpet or violin, that helps
carry the melody. Fast tempos, syncopated rhythms, and dance band timbres replaced the sedate ballrooms dances played by the string orchestras of an earlier
time. As dance rhythms became more complex, solo instrumental lines more independent and instrumental timbres more varied.

2. Blues
The foundations of jazz, primarily an instrumental music, lie in the blues, a vocal form whose origins, although stubbornly obscure, derive from African
American traditions and date from some in the nineteenth century. Just when the blues emerged is the subject of dispute, but certainly after the Civil War of what
we call the blues was heard from slaves and from newly emancipated black, who often found their lives more rather than less difficult than before they received
their freedom.
