B. Result of Adjective and Writing Ability Test

The research was aimed to know whether there is a correlation between students’ adjective and writing ability of descriptive text. The research was conducted at the first semester of eighth grade of SMPN 1 Talangpadang. The total number of the sample was 34 students. Below is the result of adjective and writing ability test.

1. Result of Adjective Ability of Descriptive Text

Data for test adjective the instrument of adjective test consisted of 25 items. The writer measured their score based on Brown ’s assessment see Page 47. Furthermore, the median was 64 with formula =MEDIAN‘all of score X’, and the mode was 68 with formula =MODE‘all of score X’.The highest score was 92, and the lowest one was 44.

2. Result of Writing Ability of Descriptive Text

The instrument of the test used the writing form. The writer asked the students to make descriptive text based on the topics given by the writer. The test was aimed to measure the students’ ability in writing. The writer measured their score based on Tribble’s assessment see Page 41. The result of writing ability of descriptive text can be seen on Table 12.
