Interview transcriptions were sent to the participants for cross-checking after transcriptions. This strategy affords the participants the opportunity to assess their intentions, correct errors, and volunteer additional information if need be to enhance the trustworthiness of data.

E. Technique of Analyzing the Data

Data analysis means effort to organize, provide structure and elicit meaning. It is a process to impose some order on large body information so that some general conclusions can be reached or communicated in a research report. Phenomenological data analysis commences as soon as the researcher collects the first data. De Vos 1998: 341 maintains that as soon as data collection begins, preparation for data analysis begins. The goal of data analysis in a qualitative research is to find common themes and broad patterns in data. According to Suter 2006: 327, the data analysis process is a way to discover “patterns, coherent themes, meaningful categories, and new ideas and in general uncovers better understanding of a phenomenon or process.” Neuman 2003 describes the process of data analysis as a means of looking for patterns to explain the goal of the studied phenomena. In analyzing the data, the descriptive phenomenological steps of data analysis developed by Parahoo 1997 were applied. These involve: commit to user 70 1. The transcribed interview will be read thoroughly by the researcher in order to get used to them. In this way, the researcher becomes immersed in the data comprehending. 2. Significant statements and phrases directly related to the experience under investigation were identified and extracted. 3. The researchers will attempt to spell out the meaning of each significant statement synthesizing. 4. Significant statements will be collected and organized into clusters of themes theorizing. 5. The themes will be used to produce a full description of an experience. 6. Then the researcher will return the description to the teachers to confirm whether it accurately reflects the essence of their lived experience, therefore enhancing trustworthiness of data. The critical analysis will include verification that: a Concrete, detailed descriptions have been obtained from the participants. b The phenomenological reduction has been maintained throughout the analysis c Essential meanings have been discovered d A structure has been articulated e The raw data has verified the results commit to user 71
