ABSTRACT

ACHMAD FANICNDI. The effects of light intensity on forage and seed production and
quality. Under direction of LUKI ABDULLAH and BAMBANG RISDIONO
PRAWRADIPUTRA
The aim of study was to evaluate the effect of light intensity on forage and seed
production and quality. Research was conducted in Research Institute for Animal
Production, Ciawi Bogor and Laboratory Agrostologi Faculty of Animal Husbandry,
Bogor Agricultural University, for 16 months. Four levels of light intensity according
with 100%, 80%,60% and 40% were used. Thee legumes species including ltalopo
(Calopagonium mucunoides), puero (Pueraria javanica) and siratro (Macroptilium
atropurpureum) were used. as cover crops and experimental plants. The block
randomized design with 3 replications were applied in this research. Data fiom each plant
were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Forage production was
evaluated within one year. The forage quality and digestibility (invitro) were
investigated. Seed production was accumulative of seasonal seed production during one

year. The result showed that light intensity affected (P
