ABSTRACT The title of this paper is “The Uses of Facebook by English Diploma
Students of Faculty of Cultural Study”, which discusses about the uses of Facebook by English Diploma Students of Faculty of Cultural Study
University of Sumatera Utara.This paper uses field research method, by spreading some questionnaire to English Diploma Student Faculty of
Cultural Study University of Sumatera Utara class A 2011 about what they are doing on Facebook, found that : the students are see the schedule of
classes in group solidas `11 class A, say happy birthday to their friends easily if there is a distance, socializing each other, make them feel energetic
and enthusiastic, chatting with friends, stalking friends, share with friends, and play online games. Facebook and students are very closely related,
English Diploma Student Faculty of Cultural Study University of Sumatera Utara is greatly assisted by a group Solidas`11 class A on facebook, all
information relating to the lectures is available there.

ABSTRAK Kertas karya yang berjudul “The Uses of Facebook by English Diploma
Students of Faculty of Cultural Study“, yang membahas tentang penggunaan Facebook oleh mahasiswa D-III Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Ilmu
Budaya Universitas Sumatera Utara. Kertas karya ini menggunakan metode penelitian lapangan dengan menyebarkan daftar pertanyaan kepada
mahasiswa D-III Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Sumatera Utara tentang apa saja yang mereka lakukan di Facebook, di
temukan bahwa : mahasiswa melihat jadwal kelas di grup solidas`11 kelas A, mengucapkan selamat ulang tahun kepada teman-teman mereka dengan
mudah jika ada jarak, bersosialisasi satu sama lain, membuat mereka merasa energik dan antusias, mengobrol dengan teman, menguntit teman,
berbagi dengan teman, dan bermain permainan online. Facebook dan mahasiswa sangat erat kaitannya, mahasiswa Diploma III Fakultas Ilmu
Budaya sangat terbantu oleh grup Solidas `11 kelas A di facebook, semua informasi yang berkaitan dengan perkuliahan tersedia di sana.
