Ketuntasan Minimal KKM in which their average score of reading test derived 73.19. Second, the observation result showed that the students were more active
and interested in learning reading activity in the classroom. Indeed, they could work together and have equal opportunity to learn. Third, based on the interview
result it could be known that the s tudents’ reading ability in term of recount text
has developed and also assisted the teacher in finding the appropriate strategy in teaching reading.
A. Conclusion
Based on the research conducted in VIII-6 class atSMPN 17 Tangerang Selatan in academic year 20102011, it can be concluded that the
students could develop their reading ability by using Student Team Achievement Division STAD technique.
B. Suggestion
In this part, the writer would like to contribute some suggestions for the teacher. First, Student Team Achievement Division STAD would be
helpful to develop students’ reading ability and involve students actively in
teaching learning process, so the teacher needs to maintain using STAD in the next new academic year in teaching reading.
However, during carrying out the Student Team Achievement Division STAD in Classroom Action Research, the writer found a drawback in this
reseach. That is using Student Team Achievement Division STAD in teaching reading needs a longer time rather than without using Student Team
Achievement Division STAD, because for the first time, students need to adapt with their teammates. Hopefully, there will be any further research of
how to complete this technique.
