Appendix II – Humorous Wordplay

Appendices II, III and IV contain the instances of humorous wordplay, culture-specific allusions and metaphor I have detected in my data and their Italian dubbed versions. They are presented in tables on parallel columns for ease of comparison. The right-hand column contains the English original whereas the left-hand column contains the Italian text. Each instance is numbered and each turn is identified by the name of the character who utters it. The smiley faces are used here to indicate where the canned laughter occurs. However, they do not signal the length of the instance of canned laughter.
