Based on the analysis, there are ten violations of conversational maxims of relation found in this TV-series. His utterance is the answer to Dawkins’ question “You kissed constable Habib?” in her jealous expression. Here, Fowler’s utterance is not related with Dawkins’ question. Fowler is expected to answer yes or no in his utterance since Dawkins asks whether Fowler kisses Habib or not. However, Fowler does not pay attention to Dawkins who feels jealous because he is still thinking about his pub quiz. In fact, Fowler talks about the quiz “Were through to the local final, Patricia. Were one game away from the trophy.” because he is still happy with his victory in the pub quiz. In this case, Fowler violates the maxim of relation because his utterance is not relevant with Dawkins’ question. He does not answer Dawkins’ question anymore and would like to talk about the quiz. In the previous utterance, Fowler admires Habib because she can answer the question of names of all gorilla’s vertebrae. Fowler thinks only the person who can answer the quiz aboutthe names of all a gorillas vertebrae is proper to be admired. Therefore, Fowler thinks it is impossible to admire Dawkins since she does not know the names of all a gorilla’s vertebrae . In fact, Dawkins’ utterance implies that she only wants to be admired as his girlfriend since Fowler rare admires her and rather admire the other woman Habib. Finally, Fowler violates the maxim of relation because his utterance is not related with Dawk ins’ utterance. Dawkins wants to be admired as his girlfriend, notas the member of quiz team. Data Nu. Gladstone is expected to give the response related with the cow disease since the context of this conversation is about the cow disease. However, Gladstone suddenly speaks about the sense of British cows which are better than German sausages. It is not related with Fowler’s speech about the cow disease. In this case, Gladstone’s utterance violates the maxim of relation since his talking is about the sense of British cow that is not related with the cow disease.
