ABSTRAK
Suku Karo adalah salah satu Suku Batak di daerah Sumatra Utara yang berada di dataran tinggi Tanah Karo. Setiap suku memiliki kebudayaan sendiri dan itu
merupakan ciri khas dari setiap suku, sama halnya dengan suku Batak Karo yang memiliki kebudayaan dan adat istiadat yang sangat dijunjung tinggi. Salah
satunya adalah seni tari. Tari di dalam masyarakat Karo sangat banyak jenisnya. Dalam kertas karya ini penulis membahas tentang salah satu tari tradisional Karo
yang sifatnya menghibur, yaitu Tari Lima Serangkai. Tari Lima Serangkai merupakan gabungan dari lima tari lima gendang. Adapun tujuan dari penulisan
kertas karya ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan gerakan-gerakan yang ada di dalam tari tersebut dan apa makna gerakan dari tiap tari yang telah digabungkan itu.
Metode yang digunakan untuk menulis kertas karya ini adalah metode lapangan dan kepustakaan. Data untuk dianalisis serta mendeskripsikannya, diambil dari
sumber data informan dan studi kepustakaan digunakan sebagai pedoman untuk pengambilan data dilapangan. Informan yang digunakan adalah suku Karo yang
ahli dalam bidang adat dan tari serta dapat dijadikan sebagai wakil populasi.

ABSTRACT
Karo tribe is one of Batak ethnic group in North Sumatera that live around Karo highland. Each tribe have their own culture and it is become the special character
for every tribe, likewise Batak Karo has the culture and tradition that very respected. The dance art is one of the culture of Karo society. The traditional
dance in Karo has many kind.In writing this paper, the writer discuss about one of traditional dance that related to the entertainment, it is Lima Serangkai dance.
Lima Serangkai dance is a grouping from five dance five rhythm. The purposes of this paper is to describe the specific mowements of Lima Serangkai dance and
to inform the movements meaning from the dance that joined. The method used for writing this paper are library research and field research. Data to be analyzed
and describe it. Data is taken from data sources informants and the library research is used as a guide for field data collection. Informants used are Karo
people who are experts in the field of customs and dance and can be used as a representative population.
