LETTER OF INTENT
BETWEEN
THE STATE MINISTRY FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT OF
THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA
AND
THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND SOCIAL ACTION OF
THE REPUBLIC OF MOZAMBIQUE
CONCERNING
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
WOMEN'S AFFAIRS COOPERATION

The State Ministry for Women Empowerment of the Republic of Indonesia and The
Ministry of Women and Social Action of the Republic of Mozambique, hereinafter
referred to as "the Parties";

Desiring to strengthen the ex1strng friendly relations and promote goodwill and
understanding as well as favorable cooperation between the two countries in the field of
women's affairs;
Acknowledging that cooperation on women affairs will bring further mutual benefit for
the development of women roles in both countries;
Realizing that cooperation between both parties on women affairs will contribute to the

improvement and betterment of women lives in both countries;
Recognizing the importance of the principles of sovereignty, equality and mutual
benefits;
Do hereby declare their intention to establish a Memorandum of Understanding on
Women Affairs Cooperation in the following fields:
Prevention of trafficking in person, especially women and children;
Prevention of violence against women and children;
HIV/AIDS prevention and eradication programs;
Empowerment of women's role on economy, socio-political and cultural affairs;
Exchange of information, knowledge, skills and technology in promoting women
participation in national development;
6. Cooperation in Capacity Building, including Joint Vocational Training on Gender
Equality;
7. Promoting exchange visits of officials and experts;
8. Other Agreed Related Areas.

The Parties agree that this document serves as the initial step with a view to establishing a
formal cooperation to be officiated by signing the Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) on Women Affairs Cooperation between The State Ministry for Women
Empowerment of the Republic of Indonesia and The Ministry of Women and Social
Action ofthe Republic of Mozambique.
Done in duplicate at Maputo, Mozambique on the day thirty first of August, in the year
two thousand and six in the English language, both texts being equally authentic.
