of State for Research and
Technology, HE Professor Dr Ing 8 J Habibie. paid an oUicial visit to Australia from the 21Jl May 1995. Minister Haoibie, who is also Chairman of the Agency for the セュ・ョエ@
and
Application of Technology 1BPPT). Chairman of the Agent;y for the Management of Strategic
Industries (BPIS), and Executive Chairman for the Development or Eastern Indonesia was
accompanied by a delegation of senior officials lo!ether with a business delegation.
The purpose of Minister Habibie's visit was to discuss Australia-Indonesia cooperation,
especially in the scientific and technical fields aild to examine Australia's technological
centres.
During the course of the visit. Minister Habibie visited Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney
and Canberra. He called on a wide range of Australian leaders, including the Prime Minister.
the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology. the Minister for Foreign Affairs. the
Minister for Defence. the . Minister for Trade, the Minister for Primary Industries and Energy,
the Minister for Administrative Services and the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel,
as well as State Governors. Premiers and Ministers.
In the course of the discussions during the visit, the two sides recognised the major
contribution of both countries to the rapid e
