THE EFFECT OF FINGER PUPPETS IN TEACHING ENGLISH
VOCABULARYAT THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF
SMP MUHAMMADIYAH PALANGKA RAYA
ABSTRACT
The aim of study is to measure impacts of finger puppets in teaching English
vocabulary of the seventh grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya.
.
In this study, the writer used quantitative approach to collect data. The
instrument of study was test. Before giving the pre test, the writer conducted a try out
to know the validity, reliability, and index of difficulty. The collected data were
analyze using a statiscal procedure. In this case, the writer used t test to analyze the
data. The population of study were all of the sevent year students of SMP
Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya . The number of population were 124 students. From
the populations, it was taken two classes as sample of the study by applying cluster
sampling. They were VII-2 and VII-4 class. The numbers of the sample were 60
students.
The result of data analysis showen that in experiment class that was given

treatment; it could be seen that the average score of mean were 34.5 (pre test) and
65.9 (post test). In control class that was taught using picture, it could be seen that the
average score of mean were 34 (pre test) and 42 (post test). From the data analysis
using t test, it could be said that using finger puppets in teaching vocabulary was
effective. Based on the statistical calculation, in which to is 7.291. Then, it was
consulted with ttable ( tt ) which db or df = ( N1 + N2) – 2 is ( 30 + 30 ) -2. Significant
level 5% was ttable ( tt ) = 2.00 and significant level 1% was ttable ( tt ) = 2.65. So, 2.00 <
7.291 > 2.65. So, t0 was higher than ttable. So, it could be concluded that Ha was
accepted and Ho was rejected.
Key words : Teaching, vocabulary, finger puppet

EFEK BONEKA JARI DALAM PENGAJARAN KOSA KATA
BERBAHASA INGGRIS PADA SISWA KELAS VII SMP
MUHAMMADIYAH PALANGKA RAYA

Berdasarkan
pehitungan statistik, bahwa to adalah 7.291. Kemudian, di bandingkan dengan ttable ( tt
) yang db atau df = ( N1 + N2) – 2 adalah ( 30 + 30 ) -2. Standar signifikasi 5% ttable ( tt
) = 2,00 dan standar signifikasi 1% ttable ( tt ) = 2,65. Jadi, 2,00 < 7.291 > 2,65. Jadi, t0
lebih tinggi dari tt. .
