MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN INDONESIA AND CANADA
COMMODITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Government of Canada and the Government of
Indonesia, desiring to utilize Canadian development
assistance loan funds for the provision of industrial
commodities and/or fertilizers, agree as follows:
ARTICLE I
Four million Canadian dollars ( $. 4,000,000 Cdn )
will be allocated for the provision of commodity and/or
fertilizer imports from Canada, for the period ending March
31, 1972.
ARTICLE II
A Loan Agreement, when negotiated, will give effect
to the undertaking covered by this present Memorandum of
Understanding. The terms of the Loan Agreement will be
50-year repayment of principal, including ten years grace.
There will be no interest or service charges.
The Loan Agreement will specify the commodities and/or
fertilizers eligible for financing, and the procedures
governing purchase and repayment.
ARTICLE III
In consideration of the importance of industrial
and/or fertilizer import programs within Indonesia's

economic development planning, the Governments of Canada
and Indonesia may subseqently, and by mutual agreement,
extend the commodity assistance program for a longer
period of time and with further allocations of funds from
the Canadian aid program .

Extensions of the commodity assistance program may
be effected through the signing of particular commodity
and/or fertilizer loan agreements, without amendment of
this present Kemorandum of Understanding.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, on behalf of
their respective Governments, have signed this Agreement
executed in duplicate at Djakarta this 23rd day of
January 1971.
