KEANEKARAGAMAN PLANKTON DI PANTAI SUJONO DESA
LALANG, KECAMATAN MEDANG DERAS, KABUPATEN BATUBARA,
SUMATERA UTARA

ABSTRAK

Keanekaragaman plankton dapat digunakan sebagai data dasar dalam menilai
kualitas suatu perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui
keanekaragaman plankton di Pantai Sujono, Desa lalang, Kecamatan Medang
Deras, Kabupaten Batubara, Sumatera Utara. Metode penentuan titik sampel
dengan purposive random sampling. Pengambilan sampel dengan menyaring air
sebanyak 25 liter ke dalam plankton net kemudian dipindahkan ke dalam botol
sampel. Spesimen kemudian diidentifikasi di Laboratorium Ilmu Dasar,
Universitas Sumatera Utara. Plankton yang ditemukan termasuk kedalam 11
kelas, 19 ordo, 20 famili dan 26 spesies. Keanekaragaman plankton berkisar
antara 1,78 - 2,33 tergolong relatif sedang. Penetrasi cahaya, salinitas, DO, pH,
intensitas cahaya, temperatur air dan BOD5 menunjukkan hubungan korelasi
paling kuat terhadap keanekaragaman plankton.

DIVERSITY OF PLANKTON IN THE BEACH SUJONO, LALANG
VILLAGE, MEDANG DERAS COUNTRY DISTRICT, OF NORTH
SUMATRA

ABSTRACT

Plankton diversity can be used as a baseline data to evaluate quality of water. This
study was aimed to determine the plankton diversity in Sujono Beach, Lalang
village, Medang Deras District of North Sumatra. The method of determining
sampling points was purposive random sampling. Sampling was done by filtering
as much as 25 litre of water into a plankton net then was transferred into the
sample bottles. The specimen were identified in the Basic Science Laboratory,
University of North Sumatra. Plankton that were found were belonged to the 11

classes, 19 orders, 20 families and 26 species. Plankton diversity ranged from 1.78
to 2.33 and classified as relatively moderate. The light penetration, salinity,
dissolve oxygen, pH, light intensity, water temperature and BOD5 were strongly
correlated to the diversity of plankton.
