ABSTRAK
Penelitian bobot badan dan ukuran tubuh dua galur ayam dewasa telah
dilaksanakan di Balai Penelitian Ternak Ciawi-Bogor pada tanggal 1 – 5 Agustus
2013. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan informasi bobot badan dan ukuranukuran tubuh ayam dewasa galur Abu dan galur Putih serta mengetahui perbedaan
keduanya dalam rangka memperkaya informasi teknis dalam menunjang
pelestarian plasma nutfah ayam asli Indonesia. Metode penelitian yg digunakan
adalah deskriptif dengan mengambil sampel dua galur ayam Sentul generasi
ketiga (Sensi-G3) yaitu galur Abu dan galur Putih hasil seleksi bobot badan umur
10 minggu di Balai Penelitian Ternak Ciawi-Bogor. Jumlah ayam jantan dewasa
galur Abu dan galur Putih yang digunakan masing-masing sebanyak 20 ekor,
sedangkan jumlah betina dewasa untuk masing-masing galur yang digunakan
sebanyak 30 ekor. Rata-rata umur ayam yang digunakan adalah 644 hari (92
minggu). Peubah yang diamati adalah bobot badan (BB), panjang dada (PD),
lingkar dada (LD), panjang paha atas (PPA) (os femur ), panjang paha bawah
(PPB) (os. tibia ), dan panjang shank (PSh) (os. metatarsus). Berdasarkan hasil
penelitian maka diambil kesimpulan bahwa performa antara galur ayam Sentul
Abu dan Sentul Putih (jantan dan betina) memiliki kesamaan pada bobot badan
dan ukuran-ukuran tubuh, kecuali pada bagian paha atas dan paha bawah jenis
kelamin betina (pada Sentul Abu paha atas 9,23 cm dan paha bawah 12,7 cm,
sedangkan pada Sentul Putih paha atas 10,08 cm dan paha bawah 12,0 cm).

ABSTRACT
Research on body weight and body measurement of two strains of Sentul
chicken was conducted in The Indonesian Research for Animal Production
(IRIAP) at Ciawi-Bogor on the August 1st to 5th 2013. The aim of this research
was to observe body weight and body measurements of two strains of mature
selected Sentul chicken namely Abu (grey plumage) and Putih (white plumage) in
order to gather data in supporting preservation of Indonesian native chicken
germplasm. The method of this research was applied twenty males and 30 females
of each strain were used in this observation. The average age of the chicken was
644 days (92 weeks). Variables measured were body weight, chest length, chest
circumference, length of the upper thigh (os. femur ), length of the lower thigh (os.
tibia ), and the length of shank (os. metatarsus). Based on the research results it is
concluded that performance between two strains of Sentul chicken (male and
female) had similar on body weight and body measurement, except on length of
the upper thigh (os. femur ) and length of the lower thigh (os. tibia ) of female (9,23
cm on os. femur and 12,7 cm on os. Tibia of grey strain whereas 10,08 cm on os.
femur and 12,0 cm on os. Tibia of white strain).
