  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana etika keluarga Jawa ditampilkan dalam film opera Jawa, atas berbagai masalah dalam keluarga dan etika dalam keluarga Jawa dewasa ini.

  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode semiotika film yang diderivasikan dari metode semiotika Roland Barthes yang pada bagian tertentu secara khusus membahas narasi film.

  Penyajian data dilakukan dengan teknik mise-en-scene yakni memilih dan meng-capture scene- scene (babak/adegan) secara terpilih dari narasi film “Opera

  Jawa” sebagai objek penelitian. Penyajian data dilakukan dengan membagi narasi film ke dalam tiga unsur bagian; narasi visual, narasi audial, dan unsur-unsur simbolik yang lain.

  Sesuai dengan metodologi semiotika Brathesian, analisis dalam penelitian ini terbagi ke dalam tiga tahap; analisis makna denotatif, analisis makna konotatif, dan analisis makna-makna ideologis, kultural. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa film

  “Opera Jawa” mengandung unsur representatif dalam menampilkan kehidupan keluarga Jawa dan budayanya, serta bisa memberikan gambaran yang kompleks dan mendasar atas berbagai persoalan keluarga yang terjadi.

  Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah representasi keluarga Jawa dalam kondisi yang sudah jauh dari etika dan nilai keselarasan. Saran, Bagi pemirsa dan penikmat seni film serta masyarakat Jawa khususnya, agar senantiasa menjaga prinsip-prinsip etika Jawa seperti nilai keselarasan, saling menghormati.

  The objective of research was to find out how the Javanese family ethics is featured in Opera Jawa movie, in relation to many problems in family and ethics of Javanese family recently.

  The method employed in this study was movie semiotic derived from Roland Barthes‟ semiotic method discussing the movie narration specifically in certain section.

  The data presentation was conducted using mise-en-scene technique, selecting and capturing the scenes selectively from “Opera Java” movie narration as the research object. The data presentation was conducted by dividing the movie narration into three elements: visual narration, auditory narration, and other symbolic elements.

  In line with Brathesian semiotic theory, the research analysis was divided into three stages: denotative, connotative, and ideological cultural meanings analyses. The result of research showed that “Opera Jawa” movie contained representative element in featuring Javanese family‟s life and culture, and could give a complex and fundamental description on various family problems occurring.

  The conclusion of research was that the representation of Javanese family in this condition had been far from ethics and harmonic value. It was recommended to the audiences and the movie art lovers and particularly the Javanese people to keep maintaining Javanese ethic principles such as harmonious and respecting values.
