ABSTRACT
ASSOCIATION OF INTERLEUKIN-10 TITER AND SEVERITY OF DENGUE
HEMORRHAGIC FEVER
Dengue is the most important mosquito borne viral disease. High morbidity and mortality together
with wide spread epidemic leads the disease to be exotic and invites scientist to continue explore
it. One curiosity of the scientist is to find what influence the severity of dengue infection
manifestation. Interleukin-10 is among cytokine that attracts many attention in recent decade as
the controversy of its ability to determine severity of dengue clinical manifestation. This study
aimed to see the association of IL-10 titer with severity of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF)
clinical manifestation in the Department of Child Health Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar.
The study is an analytic cross sectional study delivered in subjects with either mild or
severe DHF between December 2013 through December 2014. Subject were recruited when
admitted to the hospital for management of dengue infection suspicion, experienced fever at least
on the third day, recorded their clinical profiles and withdrawn blood sample for Complete Blood
Count and IL-10 titer investigation. Blood samples for Dengue infection confirmation was
withdrawn at the 7th day of fever. Relationship of IL-10 titer with severity of DHF clinical severity
was determined by OR with statistical significance p
