Memorandum of Understanding between
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia
and
The Government of Malaysia
on the Demarcation and Survey of the International Boundary
between Indonesia (Kalimantan Timur & Kalimantan Barat)
and Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak)

Pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding relating to the joint
demarcation and survey ofthe common land boundary between the Republic of
Indonesia and Malaysia signed at Jakarta on 26 November 1973 and in
accordance with:
(a)
(b)

The Boundary Convention signed at London dated 20 June 1891;
The Boundary Agreement signed at London dated 28 September 1915;

and
(c) The Boundary Convention signed at The Hague dated 26 March 1928,
the Joint Indonesia- Malaysia Boundary Committee hereby agrees to the
following:

1. The Areas that have been demarcated and surveyed by the Joint Indonesia Malaysia Survey Teams are as follows:

The Field Plans referred to and tabulated in Annex I and Annex II are the Field
Plans which have been approved and signed:
(a)

on the part ofIndonesia by:
(i) the Indonesian Co-Project Director ofKalimantan Barat; and
(ii) the Chairman ofthe Indonesian Technical Committee I Director of
Defence Territory, Directorate General for Defence Strategy,

Department ofDefence, Republic ofIndonesia.

(b)

on the part ofMalaysia by:
(i) the Malaysian Co-Project Director ofSarawak; and
(ii) the Chairman ofthe Malaysian Technical Committee I Director
General ofSurvey and Mapping, Malaysia.
These Field Plans are hereby certified to be correct.

3. All the boundary pillars I markers and their coordinates including
the abovementioned terminal boundary pillars I markers as demarcated
and surveyed in the said Areas are shown in the said Field Plans.


IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, duly being authorised by their
respective governments, have signed this Memorandum of Understanding.
