the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pa kistan
on
the Establishment of Pakistan - Indonesia Consultative Forum

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia and
Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, here inafter referred to
as the "Parties";
WHEREAS the Parties are desirous of further expanding and
developing bilateral relations and coopera tion in d iverse spheres
including political, economic, commercial, defence and cultural fields;
WHEREAS taking into account their existing agreements in various
fields;
WHEREAS the Parties are desirous to promote harmony, peace and
stability in the region;

REFERRING TO the prevaling laws and regulations in respective
countries.
NOW, therefore, the Parties have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE I
To establish a bilateral Consultative Forum at the level of Additional
Secretary/ Director General of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan
and Indonesia, respectively, to periodically review progress in their
bilateral relations.

ARTIC LE II
To hold consultations once a year, alternately, in Pakistan and
Indonesia on mutually convenient dates.

ARTICLE Ill

To coordinate positions on international and regional issues of
mutual concern.

ARTICLE IV


To ensure follow-up of decisions reached at various bilateral forums.

ARTICLE V

To review progress in the implementation of existing agreements,
and to consult each other in respect of any matter arising from or in
connection with the supply of goods or commodities between the two
countries.

ARTICLE VI

To explore and employ all possible ways and means to enhance
interaction between the business communities of the two countries and
to identify and fully exploit the trade potential and to strengthen
economic and commercial relations.

ARTICLE VII

To enhance cooperation in the fields of science and technology,
education and culture, and to utilise expertise of the two countries
particularly in the sphere of science and technology.

ARTICLE VIII

This Memorandum of Understanding may be amended as and
when required by mutual consent of the Parties.

ARTICLE IX

This Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force on the
date of its signing and remain in force indefinitely unless either Party
notifies the other of its intention to terminate it by giving 6 (six) months
advance notice.

IN WITNESS THEREOF, the undersigned, have signed this Memorandum of

Understanding.
DONE in duplicate at Jakarta on 30th day of March in the year two
thousand, in the English language. All texts being equally authentic.
