Jerawat adalah gangguan kulit akibat peradangan
menahun dari folikel pilosebasea yang ditandai
dengan adanya erupsi komedo, papul, pustul, nodus
dan kista pada tempat predileksinya

Berdasarkan jenisnya jerawat dapat dibedakan
menjadi acne punctata, acne papulosa, acne
pustulosa, acne indurate dan cystic acne

Selain pada wajah, jerawat biasa timbul pada leher,
lengan atas, dada, bahu dan punggung

Faktor yang menyebabkan gangguan kulit berupa
jerawat meliputi keaktifan dari kelenjar sebasea,
hormonal, psikis, infeksi bakteri/mikroorganisme,
makanan dan terlalu sering terpapar sinar matahari

Mikroorganisme penyebab jerawat dapat berasal dari
bantal, handuk, pesawat telepon, spons bedak, kuas
make up dan jari tangan

Jerawat hanya akan terjadi pada usia remaja

Bila sembuh jerawat akan meninggalkan bekas seperti
noda kehitaman dan scar

tidak hanya berkhasiat sebagai kosmetik, juga dapat
mempengaruhi struktur dan faal kulit yang berjerawat
seperti pada obat topikal

Preparat kosmetik yang berisi bahan aktif seperti
cosmedic antijerawat biasanya tidak mengandung lebih
dari 5% bahan aktif tersebut.
3.
Bahan-bahan aktif yang dibutuhkan dalam pembuatan
cosmedic antijerawat berupa antiseptik, keratolitik,
pengering isi jerawat dan anti pruritus

Bahan aktif yang biasa terkandung dalam cosmedic
antijerawat antara lain benzoil peroksida, sulfur, asam
azaleat, retinoid dan asam salisilat
5.
Sediaan cosmedic antijerawat dapat berupa lotion,
krim dan gel
6.
Semakin mahal harga suatu cosmedic antijerawat
menunjukkan kualitas dan kemampuannya dalam
menghilangkan jerawat semakin baik

Prinsip pengobatan jerawat menggunakan cosmedic
antijerawat adalah menekan peradangan, mempercepat
penyembuhan lesi jerawat dan menghilangkan jerawat
