Joint Communique between
the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia
and the Parliament of Canada
In the framework of strengther:iing the bilateral relations between the House of
Represe ntatives of the Republic of Indonesia and the Parliament of Canada, a
delegation from the Indonesian House of Representatives led by Prof. DR. Bomer
Pasaribu paid a visit to Canada ici' the period from 27-30 April 2009. After discussions,
both Parliaments agreed to make ·a Joint Communique, which are as follows :
1.

Both Parliaments in the scope of their competence expressed their commitments
to strengthen and increase the mutual understanding, cooperation and friendship
between the two countries.

2.

Both Parliaments agreed to carry out their best efforts to achieve more effective

parliamentary partnership which reiflect mutual understanding, reciprocal
cooperation and the building of closer relationships.

3.

In the effort to enhance parliamentary cooperation as specified in point 2 above,
both parliaments agreed to establish a Friendship Group within their respective
parliament so that the cooperation of the parliaments will be more focused.

4.

Both Parliaments agreed to lend mutual support in order to further develop their
respective economy and trade to their fullest extent.

5.

Both Parliaments confirmed the importance of exchanging visits as well as
coordination in international parliamentary forum for benefit of both Parliaments
and countries.


This Joint Communique was issued and signed in Ottawa, 27 April 2009.
