Excellency,
I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of Your Excellency's Note of
present date, which reads as follows:

"I have the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Government of
the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Ecuador on
Economic and Technical Cooperation, signed in Jakarta, on November 9, 2005,
and with a view to achieving these objectives, I take the liberty to propose the
following :
1.
For the implementation of this Agreement, the two Parties agree to
establish a Joint Commission and it shall meet at the request of either Party,
alternately in the Republic of Indonesia and in the Republic of Ecuador.
2.
In order to expand the areas of interest and mutual benefit, taking into

consideration the comparative advantages and capabilities of each Party, the
Commission shall exercise the following functions:
a.
Review the progress of implementation of agreements signed by
the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the
Republic of Ecuador in the field of trade and economic cooperation;
b.
Identify areas which are to contribute to the development of
economic and technical cooperation and draw up recommendations thereof for
their submission to the respective competent bodies of both countries;
c.
Explore the possibility of and encourage direct cooperation
between competent trade organizations and companies with a view to
increasing bilateral economic and technical relations.

3.
The status and composition of the Commission shall be determined by
mutual agreement between the Parties. Both Parties shall notify each other of
the composition of their Delegations prior to each session. The date and the
Agenda of this session of the Joint Commission shall be determined by both
Parties through Diplomatic Channels
4.
The Commission shall determine its rule and/or procedure. The sessions
of the Commission shall be held in plenary. The results of each session shall be
laid down in Agreed Minutes to be signed by the Heads of Delegations. Each
Party shall meet all expenses of its own participation and activities in the Joint
Commission.
5.
Working Groups may be set up with specific terms of reference and shall
submit their reports to the plenary sessions for consideration. Each Party may

invite experts to attend the sessions.
I have further the honour to propose that this Note and Your Excellency's
Note in reply confirming on behalf of the Government of the Republic of
Ecuador the foregoing arrangements shall be regarded as constituting an
agreement between the two Governments, which shall enter into force on the
date of Your Excellency's reply.
Accept Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
I have further the honour to confirm on behalf of the Government of the
Republic of Ecuador the foregoing arrangement and to agree that Your
Excellency's Note and this Note shall be regarded as constituting an agreement
between the two Governments which shall enter into force on the date of this
reply.
