Hubungan Karakteristik, Pengetahuan dan Sikap Ibu dengan Pemberian ASI Eksklusif di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Janji Kecamatan Bilah Barat Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Tahun 2016

ABSTRAK
ASI eksklusif adalah pemberian ASI sejak bayi dilahirkan sampai bayi
berusia 6 bulan. Cakupan ASI Eksklusif pada bayi 0-6 bulan di Indonesia pada
tahun 2013 sebesar 54,3% . Angka ini masih jauh dari target yang harus dicapai
yaitu 80%. Sehingga perlu pengkajian mengenai faktor-faktor apa saja yang
menyebabkan masih rendahnya cakupan ASI Eksklusif. Ibu dinilai sebagai faktor
yang paling berperan dalam pemberian ASI Eksklusif. Untuk itu perlu perlu
dilakukan penelitan tentang hubungan karakteristik (umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan,
penghasilan keluarga dan paritas), pengetahuan dan sikap ibu dengan pemberian
ASI Eksklusif.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah survey yang bersifat analitik dengan desain
cross sectional. Analisa data menggunakan uji chi square dengan jumlah sampel
85 orang ibu yang mempunyai bayi berumur 7-12 bulan. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk melihat hubungan karakteristik (umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan, penghasilan
dan paritas), pengetahuan dan sikap ibu dengan pemberian ASI Eksklusif
dilakukan di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Janji Kecamatan Bilah Barat Kabupaten
Labuhanbatu.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara
pendidikan responden dengan pemberian ASI Eksklusif (ρ = 0,736),bahwa tidak
ada hubungan antara pekerjaan responden dengan pemberian ASI Eksklusif (ρ =
0,286),bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara penghasilan responden dengan

pemberian ASI Eksklusif (ρ = 0,638), ada hubungan antara umur dengan
pemberian ASI Eksklusif (p = 0,001),ada hubungan antara paritas responden
dengan pemberian ASI Eksklusif (p = 0,0001), ada hubungan pengetahuan
responden dengan pemberian ASI Eksklusif ( p = 0,002)dan ada hubungan antara
sikap responden dengan pemberian ASI Eksklusif (p = 0,0001).
Dari hasil penelitian disarankan kepada petugas kesehatan khususnya
bidan untuk meningkatkan intensitas pemberian informasi melalui penyuluhan,
penyebaran media seperti leaflet kepada masyarakat serta memotivasi ibu bersalin
maupun yang memeriksa kehamilannya ke puskesmas untuk memberikan ASI
Eksklusif kepada bayinya.

ABSTRACT
Exclusive ASI (breast milk) is breast milk that is breastfed starting from
birth until the baby is 6 months old. The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in 06 month-infants in Indonesia in 2013 was 54.3%. This figure is still far from the
achieved target of 80%; thus, a study is required concerning the factors that

cause the low coverage of exclusive breast milk. Women are rated as playing an
essential role in exclusive breast milk. Therefore, a research needs to be
conducted about the Correlation of women’s characteristics (age, education,
occupation, family income and number of children), knowledge, and attitudes with
exclusive breastfeeding.
The type of this research is analytical survey with cross-sectional design.
Data were analyzed by using multiple logistic regression tests with a sample of 85
women who had 7-12 month-old infants. This study was aimed to look at the
relationship of women’s characteristics (age, education, occupation, income, and
parity), knowledge, and attitudes with Exclusive breastfeeding; and was
conducted in the working area of Puskesmas (Public Health Center) in Bilah
Barat Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu District.
The result showed that there was no correlation between respondents’
education and breastfeeding with exclusive ASI(p= 0,736), there was no
correlation between respondents’ occupation and breastfeeding with exclusive
ASI (ρ= 0,286), there was no correlation between respondents’ income and
breastfeeding with exclusive ASI (p= 0,638), there is the correlation between
respondents’ age and breastfeeding with exclusive ASI (p = 0,001), there was the
correlation between respondents' parity and breastfeeding with exclusive ASI (p =
,.0001),there was the correlation between respondents’ knowledge and

breastfeeding with exclusive ASI (p = 0,002) and there is the correlation between
respondents’ attitudes and breastfeeding with exclusive ASI (p = 0.0001).
It is recommended that the health care providers provide education
especially midwives to intensify the provision of information through counseling,
distribution of leaflets to the public media as well as motivating the maternity and
antenatal checkups to the clinic to give exclusive breastfeeding to their babies.
