1. Quantitative Research Findings

This part shows the statistical results of the research variables based on the calculation in SPSS 21. The first result is descriptive statistics and correlation using Pearson Product Moment Correlation for two variables correlation and Multiple Correlation for three variables correlation. In order to fulfill the condition of having parametric statistics Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Correlation, I employed data normality and linearity test.

a. Descriptive Statistics

The descriptive statistics is used to describe summary of the data scores for each research variable as the preliminary result in a quantitative result. The descriptive statistics shows the number of samples, the minimum score, the maximum score, the mean or the central tendency, and the standard deviation or the amount of variation from the average. The descriptive statistics for students’ learning style x 1 , English speaking ability x 2 , and academic performance y is shown in Table 4.2. Table 4.2 Descriptive Statistics of students’ Learning Style x 1 , English Speaking Ability x 2 , and Academic Performance y Descriptive Statistics N Minimum Maximum Mean Std. Deviation LS 30 35.00 47.00 41.8667 3.50107 SA 30 52.00 86.00 72.8667 9.31344 AP 30 42.00 91.00 71.4000 11.30334 Valid N listwise 30 1 Students’ Learning Style x 1 The data for this variable were taken from the data scores of students’ learning style questionnaire. The number of participants was 30 students of tenth graders in Vocational High School. From Table 4.2, it can be seen that the 81 minimum score of students’ learning style is 30. The maximum score is 47. The mean is 41,8667. The standard deviation is 3,50107. The descriptive statistics also shows the histogram of each variable. The histogram of students’ learning style is shown in Figure 4.1. Figure 4.1 Histogram of Students’ Learning Style x 1 2 English Speaking Ability x 2 The data for this variable were taken from the teacher’s scoring sheet of three speaking activities. The activities were singing contest, interview, and group discussion. The maximum sum of participants showed their English speaking ability scores. The number of participants was 30 students of tenth graders in Vocational High School. From Table 4.2, it can be seen that the minimum score of students’ learning style is 52. The maximum score is 86. The mean is 72,8667.
