1.2 Scope of the Analysis
As we know that discourse analysis is not only concerned with the description and analysis of spoken interaction but it is also concerned with written text. In
addition to all of our verbal encounters, we consume many of written and printed words such as newspaper articles, newsmagazines articles, magazine articles, letters,
novels, comics, stories, recipes, billboards, instruction, and notices. In this thesis, the analysis is focused on the transitivity process which consists
of Material Process, Mental Process, Verbal Process, Relational Process, Behavioral Process, and Existential Process found in the Worldview’s articles of Newsweek on
February to March 2008 written by FAREED ZAKARIA .
1.3 Problems of the Analysis
According to the title of this thesis, there are some questions appeared in it, they are:
1 What types of transitivity process occurred in the worldview’s articles of
Newsweek? 2
What is the most dominant type of transitivity process which become the characteristic in the worldview’s articles of Newsweek?

Objectives of the Analysis
In relation to the problems, the objectives of this study are : 1
To find out the types of transitivity process occurred in the worldview’s articles of Newsweek.
2 To find out the most dominant process which become the characteristic in the
worldview’s articles of Newsweek.

1.5 Significance of the Analysis
The findings of this thesis are expected to help the learners of Discourse Analysis to find out the six types of transitivity process in newsmagazine. And
hopefully, this thesis will be useful for the readers who are interested in studying transitivity process, in which it can help them to master English and to understand
about Discourse and transitivity process better. Beside that, I hope this thesis can also be used as one of the reference of
analyzing process in the article of newsmagazines using the transitivity process.
