7. Revision of the Listening Materials
This part explained the revision of the listening materials which had been evaluated by the participants in the preliminary field testing. The revision of the
listening materials was presented as follows. 1. The indicators would be adjusted so that they match with the task
2. The color of the font for each activity would be changed into black so that it did not distract the readers.
3. Some of the activities would be changed, so that the student would not always write the answer on the paper.
4. Some pictures would be changed in order to be more relevant to the activity. 5. The incorrect grammar and punctuations would be revised.
In the following part, the writer would like to present the answer to the second research question. It is about the final version of the design after being
revised by the writer.
B. Final Version of the Design
Based on the revision of the previous part, the writer presented the final version of the English listening materials using Task-Based Language Teaching
for the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Yogyakarta. The listening materials were designed based on the School-Based Curriculum. Therefore, the
topics were chosen from the School-Based Curriculum. The topics were asking and giving help, asking and giving things, expressing likes or dislikes, and asking
and giving opinion. Related to those topics, the English listening materials using
66 Task-Based Language Teaching for the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2
Yogyakarta consisted of four units namely May I Help You?, May I Borrow This?, Do You Like It?, and What Is Your Opinion?
Each unit consisted of four parts. They were Warming Up, Let’s Go, Your Focus Today, and Cooling Down. However, based on the revision in the
Preliminary Field Testing, the writer changed some of the pictures and some activities so that it suited the students’ needs. The writer also adjusted some of the
activities in the listening materials so that they suit the indicators. The syllabus and the final version of the designed listening materials would be presented in the
appendix C and appendix D.

CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMENDATIONS
This chapter consists of two parts, which are the conclusions and the recommendations. The conclusions part would discuss the summary of the study
and the recommendations part would present the writer’s recommendations for the
English teachers and the other researchers.
A. Conclusions
This study was aimed to design English listening materials for the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Yogyakarta. There were two research problems in
this study. The first research problem was how are the English Listening Materials Using Task-Based Language Teaching for the Seventh Grade Students of SMP
Negeri 2 Yogyakarta designed? The second research problem was what do the
English Listening Materials Using Task-Based Language Teaching for the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Yogyakarta look like?
In order to answer those research problems the writer adapted Kemp’s
Instructional Design Model 1977. The first step wa s identifying the students’
characteristics. In this step, the writer distributed questionnaires and interviewed the participants, then analyzed the data to obtain the information about the
students’ characteristics. The second step was stating the goal and the topics. The consideration of the goal wa
s based on the students’ characteristics and since the school uses School-Based Curriculum, the topics were chosen from School-Based
