Data Analyzing Method The Categories of Clauses

“ Dalam purposive sampling, pemilihan sekelompok subjek didasarkan pada ciri-ciri atau sifat-sifat populasi yang sudah diketahui sebelumnya. Purposive sampling didasarkan atas informasi yang mendahului tentang populasi dan informasi ini tidak dapat diragukan lagi.” So, in choosing the sample as the data of the analysis, I will choose seven dates newspapers which support the analysis. The seven dates samples will provide examples for each clauses that will be analyzed.

3.3 Data Analyzing Method

The process of analyzing the data, it has done in grouped. First of all, the whole data from the newspapers will be divided. Then, the data will be grouped according to the kinds of each clause. For example, the first term is about Independent clause, so I will collect all the examples of verbal clauses from all the data and put them in a group. The same thing will be done for other clauses. In this thesis I only want to show kinds or the categories that found in The Jakarta Post newspaper but not to showing the function. Universitas Sumatera Utara CHAPTER IV DATA ANALYSIS AND FINDINGS

4.1 The Categories of Clauses

Research of scientific studies always does as an objective. Collecting the data can be done by the library research and observation. In this thesis I used the collecting data by using the library research. The title of this thesis is “The Analysis of Clauses in The Jakarta Post” means to find out the clauses that found in the newspaper.
