B. The Translation Readability Based on Translation Gender

The second part of the analysis discusses the translation readability of female and male translators. 65.97 17.96 6.3 8.31 F1 F2 M1 M2 Chart 3. Assessment on Readability of the Female and Male Translators The percentage above is counted by two steps. The first step is counting the percentage of each translation product of each reader by dividing the translation product. For example, the first reader chooses five items of F1’s translation product to be the most readable one first rank. After that, the five items are divided by the number of all target texts which are fifteen. Then, the result is multiplied by 100. The second step is that the average of the first step result is searched for by adding the entire sample scores from the first until twentieth readers and then it is divided based on the number of samples twenty readers. From the data stated above, F1 stands for the first female translator, F2 stands for the second female translator, M1 stands for the first male translator, and M2 stands for the second male translator. The result of the chart above shows that the target text produced by F1 is the most readable one because, according twenty respondents, F1’s translations makes sense by using correct word, conveying the 45 message from the SL, heving high naturally of a text and easy form of expression, and producing similar response. Out of all the translations, F1 produces 65.97 readable translation, F2 produces 17.96 readable translation, M1 produces 6.3 readable transation, and M2 produces 8.31 readable translation. Based on the percentage, M2 has the minimum results. According to the assumption generally made by people that state female translators employ their feeling that contributes to employ the feeling in using a language, including translating romantic text, the readable translation becomes the indicator to prove whether the assumption is true or not.

Because eleven votes go to F1, it shows that F1 is the mo st readable one. F1’s translation is the most readable one because the word, phrase, and sentence in both ST and TT have the same meaning. The message is also well delivered. It means that the translator succesfully explains the ST and TT without confusing the readers, and it is appropriate with the context of the text 46 which does not require the readers to understand any external knowledge to read the translation.

However, three respondents vote for F2, three respondents vote for M1, and no respondent votes for M2. From the data stated above, it shows that F1 is the most readable one. The tr anslator interprets the word „it’ to „ciuman’ although the literal meaning of „it’ is not „ciuman’. The main reason why F1 translates „it’ to „ciuman’ is to lead the readers to easily refer the pronoun „it’ to „ciuman’. Because of the reference made by F1, it enables the readers to automatically refer the pronoun “it” to “ciuman” which is easier for the readers’ understanding. The word “keunikannya” is used in translating “own way”. The word „keunikannya’ gains the same meaning even though it is conveyed with a different expression.
